COVID-19 Update

Jessamine County Public Library is open to the public.

Curbside holds pickup, Library in a Box deliveries, and all drop box locations are currently open.

Masks Are Required

Under executive order 2020-856 from Governor Andy Beshear, a mask is required to enter the library.

What to Expect When You Visit

In compliance with state guidelines, service will look a bit different.

We invite you to:

  • Pick out items. Aim to grab and go.
  • Use the public computers for up to 3 hours per day. (See restrictions below for more info.)
  • Ask quick reference and account questions.
  • Copy, scan, and fax.
  • Reserve the Study Room or the Davies Conference Room. (See restrictions below for more info.)

Some restrictions are in place:

  • 150 customers are welcome in the building at a time.
  • Public computer access is limited to 1 hour, with up to 2 renewals per day (as long as other customers aren’t waiting) for a 3 hour daily limit. (Due to social distancing guidelines, JCPL has reduced the number of computer stations. The time/renewal limit provides access to as many customers as possible.)
  • Select meeting rooms and equipment in the Creative Space are unavailable.
  • There are no tables for studying or working. Seating is limited.
  • The Study Room and the Davies Conference Room each have a capacity of three people. Masks and social distancing are required.

Staff are required to wear face masks and keep social distance.

Restrictions are subject to change as governmental guidelines are updated.

Since JCPL closed in March, staff have been cleaning and modifying procedures to ensure a safe environment. The library is following Kentucky’s Healthy at Work guidelines.
Additionally, all returned items are quarantined for 96 hours (4 days) before being returned to the shelves.

Customer Service Hours

Monday – Friday:
10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, reserved for seniors and those at higher risk
11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, all customers
Saturdays: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, all customers
Sundays: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM, all customers

In addition to the reserved hour (10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Mon. – Fri.), higher risk individuals may want to take advantage of the library’s curbside holds pickup service or the Library in a Box delivery service, both of which are also available to everyone.

Our book drops and eLibrary remain open 24/7, and programs continue online.

As a message of hope, help, and to make the return to JCPL as welcoming as possible, the Board of Trustees voted to enact a one-time fine forgiveness for JCPL customers.

The Trustees resolved to forgive all overdue fines for adult customers and all overdue fines and lost/damaged fees for juvenile customers (children and teens).

To provide some context, 18,000 of 39,000 active library customers had overdue fines that have been cleared by the Library Trustees. 5,000 adult customers will no longer be blocked from borrowing as the result of accumulating too many overdue fines.

Children and teen customers will not find any charge of any kind on their accounts as the library reopens. 1,500 previously blocked children and teens are now able to borrow library material again.

The one-time fine forgiveness will automatically apply to customer accounts upon reopening. Regular library fines and fees will be in effect from June 8, 2020 onward.

All drop boxes are currently open. Materials checked out before we closed were due on June 30, 2020.
