Drop Your Drawers for a Good Cause

Help us collect 1,000 pairs of underwear!

It’s time again to Drop Your Drawers at Jessamine County Public Library.

  • This year’s underwear drive benefiting Jessamine County Schools is November 15–January 15.
  • Donate new, unopened packages of underwear for children, preferably sizes 4–16. Donations should be in their original packaging.
  • Bring donations to the Customer Service Desk at JCPL in Nicholasville.

Donate and enter to win:

Each package of underwear you donate earns you a drawing entry for a $50 Visa gift card. You’ll also receive an “I dropped my drawers at the library!” sticker while supplies last. If you choose, we’ll recognize your donation on the windows to the main library.

About the campaign:

Easily recognized by the popular character of Captain Underpants by author and illustrator Dav Pilkey, the Drop Your Drawers campaign collects donations of new underpants for children. Donations are then distributed to public schools in the area based on the needs of each school.

Schools hand out dozens of pairs a month to children who need clean underwear due to accidents at school or issues at home. When parents are unable to bring fresh underwear to their children during school hours, children can miss valuable learning time in the classroom.

Donations to JCPL’s Drop Your Drawers underwear drive help replenish emergency supplies at Family Resource Centers throughout Jessamine County Schools so that kids can be comfortable, confident learners.

JCPL has participated in this Kentucky-wide initiative since 2016, when over 660 individual pairs of underwear were donated and given to JCS Family Resource Centers. In 2021, more than 850 individual pairs were collected from 30 donors. This year, the library’s goal is to receive 1,000 pairs.
