Multimedia Content Coordinator

Definition

Under the general supervision of the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator, the Multimedia Content Coordinator develops, implements, and maintains multimedia content for social media and marketing campaigns that promotes engagement with library programs, collections, and services.

Duties and Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Work with Assistant Director and Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator to implement a results-driven social media strategy 
  • Work with marketing team to create a social media calendar that aligns with library goals 
  • Foster relationships in person and online with community partners, stakeholders, members of the public, and followers. This includes responding promptly to social media messages, questions, and comments with clear, helpful information. 
  • Develop human-interest features that highlight the library’s value and impact on the community 
  • Maintain brand voice, visual identity, and library standards across all platforms  
  • Capture high-quality images and videos at events, programs, facilities, and community activities 
  • Create video content, motion graphics, and interactive media for social media, digital advertising, and other campaigns as needed 
  • Manage post-production, including photo and video editing, color correction, and audio mixing, ensuring high-quality content output. 
  • Plan, write, and edit engaging captions, scripts, blog posts, and promotional copy to ensure content is clear, accurate, and effective in communicating marketing messages. 
  • Review, record and report on analytics and key metrics 
  • Attend library conferences and workshops related to duties as authorized by Assistant Director  
  • Function as an integral member of the marketing team 
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned 

Qualifications

BA in Communications, Marketing, or related field

Competencies

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, including the ability to decipher and relay detailed information 
  • Must have initiative, energy, and imagination necessary to perform job functions with a minimum of direction, as well as a clear understanding of the mission of JCPL and a forward-thinking vision regarding JCPL’s vital role in the community 
  • Advanced photography and videography skills, including camera operation, lighting, audio recording, composition, and visual storytelling 
  • Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms and social media management tools; interest and ability to stay abreast of social media trends and best practices  
  • Ability to compile and analyze data 
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement tasks 
  • Proficiency in photo and video editing software and digital content creation tools. 
  • Must have strong copywriting and copyediting skills 
  • Must be confident and professional when appearing on camera and engaging with diverse audiences 
  • Ability to perform all duties in a manner that displays knowledge of professional library principles, methods, techniques, and procedures 
  • Must be able and willing to work with Creative Space equipment 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record 
  • Knowledge of and commitment to excellent customer service 
  • Desire to contribute to the Library’s public service mission with an attitude of helpfulness and friendliness 

Physical Demands

  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, and similar movements when the occasion requires 
  • Moving 50-100-lb. carts and handling moderately heavy boxes of books when the occasion requires 
  • Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods of time (4-8 hours) 
  • Ability to view computer screens for extended lengths of time (4-8 hours) 
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information with coworkers and customers

Other Information

  • Full time employment at the Jessamine County Public Library is 38.5 hours per week. 
  • All employment at the Jessamine County Public Library is considered “employment at will.” 
  • Hours of work are dependent upon the public service hours of the department. Employees are required to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends. 
  • Employees must adhere to library policies and procedures as described in the Employee Handbook. 
  • All employees are expected to follow the JCPL Confidentiality Policy. 
  • Work performance is continuously evaluated, new employees will discuss work performance at 30, 60, and 90 days of employment. All employees will have an annual discussion of work performance. 
  • All employees must participate in Direct Deposit for payroll.
